Let's be honest, AP style can be a major pain. However, it isn't all bad. One major pro of AP style is it eliminates redundancy. What is more annoying than seeing something in writing as redundant as 7 a.m. this morning anyway, right? Personally, I also enjoy the way dates are written out in AP style. Oct. 31 looks a whole lot better to me than October 31, but maybe I'm just weird. One MAJOR con of AP style is the lack of consistency in the capitalization of words. Is it Secretary of State Hillary Clinton? Or wait, do you capitalize secretary of state when it isn't in front of a name too? (FYI, you don't). Now that I think about it, I guess abbreviations are kind of weird too, but maybe I have just grown accustom to them.
